The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike's (BBMP) Revenue Department is on a drive to streamline Khata distribution so citizens can get one without going through any middlemen or paying a transaction fee.According to Rashmi V, BBMP's Special Commissioner (Revenue), joint commissioners, deputy commissioners and revenue officers have been assigned inspection, review and follow-ups of pending Occupancy Certificates (OCs). As soon as this is done, the officers will be allotted separate zones for collection of documents, processing, and distribution of Khata, personally to each applicant. “This weekend, we will put up the schedule for each zone on our website.The focus will be on the new zones. We will also put up a list of documents required for speedy processing of Khata,“ she said. To bring about transparency in the process so that applicants need not pay any transaction fee, the BBMP officials will go house to house and to each housing society to personally collect documents pertaining to the Khata application.The Special Commissioner says, “The BBMP does not collect any fee. Applicants are cautioned to refrain from paying any transaction fee to anybody. “She also mentioned that they are testing the process of online Khata application and this could be available on the website in about one and a half months.
