The BBMP council on Tuesday accepted a proposal by the standing committee on taxation and finance to extend 5% rebate period on property tax payment till June 30, 2016. The deadline otherwise was May 31, 2016.
BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad told the council that they have revoked a special provision under the KMC Act to extend the rebate period for the third month this financial year. Mayor BN Manjunath Reddy said he was aware of the problems tax payers were facing, especially after the introduction of the online system and most of the issues were resolved. “Since the updating process got delayed and the problem is from our side, the rebate period has been extended to help tax payers,“ he added.
